Which bank is our checking account at again?
by Sarah Sundby
In most households there’s one person who is the family bookkeeper and holds the “keys to the kingdom.” Since I currently hold the key to my own family’s finances and online file storage, I decided to create step-by-step instructions for my husband (who would likely have no idea where to begin). Then I showed him where my password list was located and updated the list to include access info for my computer and email accounts, social networking accounts, and online video and photo storage sites, among others.
What if the CFO of the family was not able to perform their duties? Many presume it will be a spouse or partner who is tasked with this burden, but it could also be someone else who has no clue about your online activity, filing and bookkeeping system. Creating a “how-to manual,” for your personal finances along with an inventory of your assets may seem like a daunting task, but it’s one that is well worth your time and effort.
